As advanced as the VR world has become, it still has room for improvement when it comes to immersion.

A significant immersion breaker in VR is movement, which generally relies on controller thumbsticks.

While VR treadmills do exist, they can take up space and be cost-prohibitive.

But things may be about to change.

A New Shoe For VR You

A group of VR specialty device innovators has revealed a new accessory to help increase immersion.

Today, Surplex announced the launch of its Full-Body VR Tracking Shoes.

According to Surplex, the advanced complement for VR games is as comfortable as a pair of running shoes.

Surplex says the shoes will allow users to move seamlessly through virtual worlds.

With VR being an integral part of the digital interaction future, Surplex says the shoes will enhance the user experience in every application.

Surplex Founder Axl Chan says VR signals a new era for learning and playing online, but currently-available interactive tools have limited navigation.

According to Chan, Surplex’s VR tracking shoes will change things.

“Our latest creation is as simple and intuitive as a normal pair of shoes and sets you to move seamlessly through the virtual world,” says Chan. “The power of Surplex lies in our self-developed flexible pressure sensors under each foot and proprietary deep learning algorithms to infer human 3D skeletons accurately. The result is the most natural and highly accurate way to interact with the virtual world.”

Chan says Surplex is not just a VR accessory but a representation of true freedom for a fascinating new world.

Surplex says the shoes make VR movement seamless, streamline interactions, and increase immersion.

Each shoe, which Surplex says is lightweight, has more than 240 flexible pressure sensors, and can run for up to six hours on a full charge.

Surplex says the shoes also contain an inertial measurement unit (IMU) and proprietary deep learning algorithm to sense movement and translate it into the VR world.

According to Surplex, the combined features facilitate realistic simulated movements and give users a seamless connection between the real world and VR.

Surplex says its advanced system also eliminates occlusion and drifting to give the user a more realistic experience.

The VR tracking shoes, which Surplex says open up endless possibilities, will launch on Kickstarter soon.
