Less than two months after its birth, CannaGeek is preparing to hold its first official live event from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on September 10.

The event is part of the HQ Community Showcase & Studio Tour, which centers around raising funds for the School for Creative Careers (SFCC) nonprofit.

SDSCC is the home of the Lights Camera Awesome program, which offers students free hands-on audio and video production training.

“I am proud to host the first CannaGeek event and support a worthwhile cause like the School for Creative Careers,” says CannaGeek Founder Benjie Cooper. “The studio gives students a cost-free opportunity to learn all the different aspects of video and audio production without having to do anything other than show up, learn, and participate.”

As part of the event, guests will take a guided tour through SFCC’s various studios and learn about the education offered there.

One of the larger studios features a mixing board that was originally built for the Phantom of the Opera show on Broadway.

The tour will also include a walk down SFCC’s guitar hallway, which features a variety of amps and instruments on display, including one of Taylor Swift’s acoustic guitars.

In one of the studios, guests will have the chance to test their trivia knowledge in lightning-quick game show rounds of You Don’t Know Jack hosted by Cooper.

CannaGeek event attendees will also receive stickers and signed copies of Cooper’s Patience comic book during the tour.

Keeping the Canna in the Geek, cannabis consumption buses will be on-site, hosted by San Diego Cannabis Farmers Market Founder Joshua Caruso.

Popular San Diego hip-hop artist Michael Gabriel will perform during the CannaGeek event, bringing his signature hip-hop style to the stage.

Gabriel has played shows with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Mos Def, and KRS-One and recorded with hip-hop legend Mr. Lil One.
