A CannaBus will make its way across Texas next month with a mission of spreading cannabis and education.
Today, Parallel announced that its Texas-based subsidiary goodblend is launching the Ride For Your Rights tour with a first-of-its-kind mobile dispensary in October.
Goodblend is one of three medical cannabis companies with licenses to operate in Texas.
The tour starts on Tuesday, October 4, in San Angelo, following a media event in Austin on Wednesday, September 21.
The tour will stop in Abilene (10/6), Fort Worth (10/8), Plano (10/10), Nagadoches (10/12), Houston (10/17), and San Antonio (10/19) before concluding in Killeen (10/20).
Parallel says the goal is to energize medical cannabis supporters in Texas and educate people on how easy it is to obtain a medical cannabis prescription.
To enter the Texas Compassionate Use Program (TCUP), potential patients must have one or more of the more than 150 qualifying conditions.
Individuals wanting to register for TCUP can find a physician network and make tele-med appointments through the goodblend website.
Once registered, patients may browse and purchase products from Texas dispensaries.
“The medical cannabis program will never change unless Texans stand up and make it change,” says Parallel CEO Reece Fulgham in a press release. “The ‘Ride For Your Rights’ CannaBus Tour was designed to educate and galvanize support for expanding access to Texans in need. We hope the support rallied will convince Texas policymakers that there’s strong public demand for real, lasting change.”
Parallel notes that HB 1535 was the most recent change to TCUP, adding PTSD and all cancers to the list of qualifying conditions.
Parallel says that while the change allows millions more Texans to qualify for TCUP, most don’t know that medical cannabis is an option in the state.
According to Parallel, there are fewer than 30,000 patients in the program.
Through the CannaBus tour, goodblend aims to excite and educate Texans about the potential benefits of medical cannabis.
Parallel says the CannaBus is a 36′ retrofitted vehicle with a private consultation room, medical cannabis displays, and outdoor education installation.
There is no admission charge for CannaBus tour stops, but attendees must register through the goodblend website.
