Jetty Extracts will become the first cannabis company in California to launch OCal-certified solventless products, coming soon to dispensaries.

In the United States the USDA has a program for certifying products made under organic production guidelines.

But cannabis crops are ineligible for the USDA Organic program due to the current state of federal policy.

Instead, California offers the OCal program, which enables producers to obtain organic certification from the state regardless of federal law.

“Consumer safety has been a top priority of Jetty since the company’s inception,” says Jetty Co-Founder Nate Ferguson. “Jetty’s OCal certification is a testament to our consistent efforts to create the cleanest, most sustainable, and innovative products on the market, and we’re committed to meeting the growing consumer demand for transparent cannabis products.”

To obtain OCal certification, companies must abide by the program’s stringent cannabis cultivation and manufacturing standards.

OCal policy prohibits fertilizers with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge, bioengineering, radiation, and most conventional pesticides.

Producers must keep OCal-certified products separate from conventional products during manufacturing.

The OCal program only allows for specific extraction methods like solventless rosin pressing in certification.

OCal-certified products also cannot contain any artificial additives like colors, flavors, or preservatives.

The California Department of Public Health’s Food and Drug Branch is responsible for maintaining the OCal program and standards.

The OCal program works with third-party certifying agents to stay compliant with regulations.

OCal-certified Jetty products will be available in January 2023.
