A newly-formed partnership is helping bring VR therapy to seniors through new technology.
Today, MyndVR announced a partnership with HTC to bring next-generation immersive glasses to seniors in long-term care.
MyndVR provides therapeutic VR solutions for seniors in communities, home care agencies, veteran homes, and private residences in Canada, Australia, and the United States.
The partnership combines the official launch of MyndVR 3.0 with the new HTC VIVE Flow Immersive Glasses.
“Since 2016, MyndVR has been pioneering the field of digital, VR-based therapeutics with older adults,” says MyndVR CEO Chris Brickler in a press release. “Today, we are thrilled to launch the next generation of the MyndVR platform to include the lightest-weight and most visually stunning immersive glasses ever delivered to a variety of senior healthcare settings, including senior living, skilled nursing, veteran homes, and hospice.”
Real Therapy in Virtual Reality
Brickler says seniors have earned the opportunity to use VR to explore and connect with things like nature, music, and art that they have helped build and enjoy throughout their lives.
The new VIVE Flow features a 100-degree field of view, 3.2k resolution, 75 Hz refresh rate, and diopter dials that allow users to sharpen visuals.
According to the release, the VIVE Flow’s 3D spatial audio can pair with Bluetooth headphones as part of the MyndSpatial sound-based therapy.

American Senior Communities (ASC) will begin rolling out the VIVE Flow headsets with MyndVR 3.0 to 22 skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory care communities.
ASC will also receive MyndExplorer, a VR-based, interactive map app that uses Google Maps to allow users to visit any location on Earth in VR.
MyndVR says MyndExplorer will let seniors unlock happy memories of past trips and provide a powerful and engaging therapy tool designed for reminiscence and socialization therapies.
ASC CEO Donna Kelsey welcomes VR technology for its benefits for seniors.
