On August 25, 1997, a game-changing first-person shooter from Rare arrived on the Nintendo 64 console.

Based on the longstanding James Bond franchise, the game GoldenEye 007 quickly became a legendary title.

While GoldenEye 007 featured a campaign based on the movie’s story, its multiplayer mode made it stand out from other titles.

Now, 25 years after GoldenEye 007 blasted its way onto the N64, Cinedigm will release a documentary, GoldenEra based on the popular game.

According to Cinedigm, many consider Goldeneye 007 one of the greatest video games of all time.

“Even two decades after its release, GoldenEye still has a massive impact on modern-day gaming,” says Cinedigm Chief Content Officer Yolanda Macias. “There is so much for fans to love about this documentary. Whether you’re a fan of gaming, CONs, the 90s, or James bond, this film encapsulates that era so precisely and it brings on a nostalgia factor.”

Cinedigm says it looks to celebrate a watershed moment with GoldenEra, which takes an in-depth look at the rise and fall of the team behind Goldeneye 007.

The documentary details the creative process behind Goldeneye 007, its culture, and the British team who helped provide countless hours of joy for players worldwide.

Cinedigm says it hopes to reconnect GoldenEye 007 players and fans to an era when gaming was social, communal, and awe-inspiring.

The GoldenEra documentary will be available on Cinedigm’s CONtv streaming channel on August 23, two days before GoldenEye 007’s 25th anniversary.
