There’s a new game coming to Steam that will have people speaking out.
Today, London-based indie game publisher Godolphin Games announced the launch date for its new voice-controlled adventure Unknown Number: A First Person Talker.
The game, which launches on Steam on September 21, centers around a mysterious phone call that brings the player into a high stakes heist.
Godolphin says players will need to rely on their ability to crack passwords, fool guards, and impersonate people to save the world—all with the sound of their voice.
“Unknown Number is the world’s first ever ‘First Person Talker’—and we can’t wait for you to experience it,” says Godolphin Games Creative Director Thomas Keane. “The game will have you talking, shouting, singing, and whispering—in a daring attempt to save the Earth from climate catastrophe. It will also have you wondering why on Earth more games aren’t built around voice commands. For us, the ambition of Unknown Number is to kickstart that revolution. Over to you, Rockstar—’GTA: A First Person Talker’ has just gotta happen.”
Godolphin says Unknown Number centers around a series of interactive phone calls where players use voice commands to solve puzzles and talk to a rich cast of complex characters.
According to Godolphin, players can expect moral quagmires and lots of head-scratching as they help two eco-warriors steal $7 billion from seven well-guarded vaults.
In the game, players will navigate mazes, decode passphrases, manipulate henchmen, impersonate oil executives, make story-impacting moral decisions, and tell knock-knock jokes.
Anyone wanting to try the game before its September 21 launch can download the demo from Steam.
