The midterm elections are coming up in November, and cannabis policies will be on some of the ballots.
Alaska, Maryland, Missouri, North Dakota, and Oklahoma will vote on adult-use, and Nebraska may vote on medical cannabis.
To prepare for election day, an American dispensary chain is supporting a voter registration organization to help more people get out and vote on cannabis policy.
Today, RISE Dispensaries announced that it will be the premier sponsor of HeadCount’s Cannabis Voter Project (CVP).
RISE is a subsidiary of Green Thumb Industries Inc.
HeadCount is a nonprofit, non-partisan voter registration and participation organization.
Engaging Voters
HeadCount has partnered with festivals and artists like Lollapalooza, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Dead & Company, and others to encourage civic engagement.
Through the “Roll Up to the Polls” campaign, CVP aims to register and inform voters in support of cannabis policy reform.
Green Thumb CEO Ben Kovler says there are massive inconsistencies in cannabis policies across the United States, created by long-standing political figures.
“We are proud to partner with HeadCount and the Cannabis Voter Project to increase voter registration,” says Kovler in a press release. “The best way to create change is to drive more people to vote, which is exactly the mission of this partnership.”
HeadCount launched CVP in 2018 to register voters interested in cannabis policy and get them to the polls.
CVP provides online voter registration and an interactive map that details elected officials’ stances on cannabis policy in all 50 states.
Cannabis Voter Project Director Sam D’Arcangelo says Headcount is excited to launch its partnership with RISE Dispensaries in time for the midterm elections.
“The leaders we elect decide how cannabis is treated at the federal, state, and local level, so it’s important for the cannabis community to be an active and informed voting bloc,” says D’Arcangelo. “Cannabis Voter Project is grateful to have RISE’s support, and we look forward to helping their customers make their voices heard at the polls.”
Additional cannabis policy resources are available at the CVP and RISE websites.
