An American herbal medicine biotech firm has started the new year by releasing a cannabidiol (CBD) FAQ for clinicians.

Deerfield, Illinois-based Blue Gem Hemp (BGH) announced the FAQ on Monday.

The company says the FAQ will help clinicians worldwide learn about full-spectrum CBD oil’s potential therapeutic effects.

The FAQ begins by describing CBD and some of its uses and potential benefits.

Some of CBD’s potential therapeutic applications include treating anxiety, addiction, epilepsy, sleep disorders, diabetes, migraines, pain, and inflammation.

While CBD has mild side effects and is generally well-tolerated, BGH says risks exist.

According to the FAQ, potential CBD side effects include liver damage, sedation, diarrhea, and changes in appetite and mood.

The FAQ also notes CBD’s interactions with drugs like alcohol, acetaminophen, and antidepressants.

BGH says CBD can compound the sedative effects of drugs like benzodiazepines or antihistamines.

“It is utterly imperative to educate the Clinician communities globally,” says BGM CEO Rudaba Naqvi. “With valuable research data and FAQs to help enhance the safety of the health and wellness of the patients.”

The FAQ also notes that extraction methods can affect CBD oil’s purity and potency.

BGH explains that while some companies use solvents like butane or ethanol for extraction, it does not.

According to the company, its extraction process is completely solvent and chemical-free.

BGH says its mission is to help educate clinician communities on safe cannabis medicine practices.

According to the company, many clinicians have expressed interest in incorporating medicinal cannabis extracts into their practices.

BGH’s FAQ also features an information resource list which includes links to NORML, ASA, and other cannabis-related organizations.
