The Kushstock Festival rolled into Adelanto on Saturday, drawing thousands for a sunny day of cannabis activities and entertainment.
The event originated at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino in 2016 before moving to the Adelanto Plaza & Events Center in 2018.
Vendors were the first to show up Saturday morning, constructing their booths in the parking lot, upper level, and baseball field.
Sound checks resonated from the main stage in the outfield, where Dilated Peoples, Souls of Mischief, and others would perform later.
A Kushy Day
Visitors to the free event began trickling in when the gates opened at noon.
A small group of food and merchandise vendors were situated by the front entrance and one of Kushstock’s three music stages.
Throughout the day, rubber smoke and the squealing tire sounds emanated from the parking lot in the DONUTS4DOLLARZ area.
Donut-doing drivers spun circles in a sectioned-off area throughout the day, each competing for a $1,000 cash prize.
Entertainment continued in the parking lot for the duration of Kushstock, but the main event was in the stadium.
After a security check at the stadium entrance, a vast assortment of vendors, entertainment, and activities awaited attendees.
A string of comedians, including Diaz Mackie, entertained from a small upper level stage, framed by Medicated Barbies and other booths.
The rest of the booths, constructed in various sizes and configurations, were on the baseball field.
While many vendors went with the standard table-and-tent option, some companies opted for larger and more-elaborate truss booths.
The food vendors occupied the outer rim of the infield, along with the second of Kushstock’s three music stages.
Further in, a veritable maze of vendors stretched across the field, framing the main stage and crowd area in the outfield.
Vendors offered an assortment of cannabis products, smoking accessories, paraphernalia, and related merchandise.
Among the vendors was Dopecat artist Mike Boheem, who had a booth somewhere in right field with a selection of his comics for sale.
The WrestleSesh
Near the center of the field, “Medi” Mike Boris hosted the WrestleSesh mini-event, which featured WWE star & actor Jack Talos.
The event was one of Kushstock’s more-unique features.
Wrestlers smacked, threw, and kicked each other in cannabis-themed matches in the squared circle throughout the day.
While wrestlers performed a variety of moves familiar to wrestling fans, WrestleSesh matches came with cannabis modifications.
The rule modifications required the wrestlers to finish a blunt before they could win the match with a pin.
In one match, the wrestlers could not win by pinning before the referee had finished his blunt.
The WrestleSesh culminated in a Last Blunt Standing free-for-all match, which Talos won after chokeslamming Guy Cool.
The match drew the largest crowd of any other during the day.
As the sun set, temperatures cooled, and larger crowds started to gather in front of the main stage for the remainder of Rhyme Fest.
The entertainment and Kushstock Festival culminated with a headline performance by hip-hop veterans The Pharcyde.
