Let the nachos flow because everybody’s favorite dumbass duo has returned with a new show on Paramount Plus.
After a decade-long hiatus, Beavis and Butt-Head are back with new stories, new animation, and even new music.
Yes, in addition to a more polished look, Beavis & Butt-Head’s iconic theme song got a little overhaul for the new show.
Beavis and Butt-Head aired for seven seasons after their MTV debut in 1993, followed by a movie in 1996, and a new season in 2011.
Paramount initially heralded the future return of Beavis & Butt-Head at the launch of its streaming service in 2021.
Beavis and Butt-Head Arrive in 2022
The first Beavis and Butt-Head release on Paramount’s platform came in the form of a movie, Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, on June 23, 2022.
The movie signaled the pair’s first feature-length cartoon since Beavis & Butt-Head Do America hit the silver screen in 1996.
I’ll never forget how the audience in the theater cheered when Beavis entered the movie, kicking military tanks like soccer balls and raining fire breath down on them.
If you haven’t seen the new Beavis and Butt-Head movie, it’s definitely worth watching, but I won’t give you any spoilers.
While there is a different overall look and feel to Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe compared to previous productions, watching it felt like coming home after being away for several years.
But the home has a new coat of paint and a better sound system on its new flatscreen television.
The new movie has loads of funny lines, gags, and scenes, the best of which may be where Beavis and Butt-Head go to college and discover something about themselves.
The hilarity ensues when the two act on their newfound knowledge.
While incredibly fun, the movie served as a vehicle to literally propel Beavis and Butt-Head through time and space into 2022.
A New Series
Following the June release of Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, Paramount Plus launched a brand new series on August 3.
Mr. Van Driesen is still teaching at Highland High in 2022, and Beavis and Butt-Head have a new television in their living room.
Beavis and Butt-Head’s couch still looks like crap, but that’s part of its charm.
That picture with the guy holding the fish is still on the wall too.
Life is good in Highland, at least for Beavis and Butt-Head.
The people they interact with, maybe not so much.
At series launch, Paramount released the first two episodes, with additional episodes to follow.

The New Episodes are Great
In episode 1’s first segment, Escape Room, Beavis and Butt-Head find themselves trying to solve a “Mummy’s Tomb” escape room, sort of.
Beavis and Butt-Head’s inability to distinguish left from right starts a chain of events that only they could unwittingly pull off.
In the second segment, The Special One, Butt-Head is surprisingly absent, replaced by a literal dumpster fire for the story’s duration.
And the fire tells Beavis to do things.
What the fire tells Beavis to do might surprise some parents from the 90s.
Maybe fire gets a bad rap sometimes.
In the first segment of episode 2, Boxed In, Mr. Van Driessen confiscates Beavis’ cordless drill after it becomes a distraction in class.
The fun begins when Butt-Head devises a plan to retrieve the drill.
As one might expect, things don’t go as poorly planned.
In the second segment, Beekeepers, Beavis and Butt-Head attempt yet-another get-rich-quick idea after talking to Mr. Van Driessen at a Highland farmers market.
If Mr. Van Driessen had any sense whatsoever, he would have moved out of Highland long ago.
Thankfully, he’s right where he should be, catching the painful-yet-hilarious fallout from Beavis and Butt-Head’s antics.
Still, you can’t help but feel a little sorry for the hippie, though only a bit.
If you’re wondering about the music videos, they are back, along with reaction and ASMR videos pulled from social media.
Whatever the media is, Beavis and Butt-Head’s reactions to the content they’re watching are always comedy gold.
I consider the first two installments of the new Beavis and Butt-Head series worthy additions to the franchise, and I’m anxiously awaiting the upcoming episodes.
