Who had CBD shoes on their 2023 bingo card?

It may sound like a joke, but April 1 was two weeks ago, and CBD shoes are a thing now.

Technically, they may be considered hemp shoes, but they’re made from CBD flowers rather than fibers.

Either way, we’re not going to split hairs.

The shoes are the product of a collaboration between 8000Kicks and Royal Queen Seeds.

According to a press release, the shoes are a response to a persistent customer question about whether they can smoke 8000Kicks’ hemp shoes.

The company says it turned the joke into a reality by creating a shoe with CBD flowers.

But like 8000Kicks’ other hemp footwear, the new shoes aren’t for smoking either.

Is anyone really that desperate, anyway?

“This limited edition shoe is a one-of-a-kind product that showcases our innovation and client’s demand,” says 8000Kicks Founder & CEO Bernardo Carreira. “We believe that this idea will surprise our customers who are looking for a more eccentric pair.”

Weedo Walks Up

8000Kicks has dubbed the new CBD shoe model the Weedo, constructing it from sustainable materials.

Cotton and hemp comprise the shoe’s laces, insoles, and interior.

The company says it uses 500 grams of premium CBD flowers to create each shoe, taking up to 30 hours to complete.

During the process, an industrial grinder breaks down the cannabis into small pieces, which 8000Kicks meticulously stitches to the shoe.

8000Kicks says it uses water-based glue to secure the shoes, to keep them sustainable and vegan-friendly.

“We are excited to partner with 8000Kicks and Nisiseltor Studio to bring this exclusive product to our customers,” says Royal Queen Seeds CEO Shai Ramsahai. “This limited edition shoe is a one-of-a-kind product that showcases our commitment to innovation and client’s demand. We believe that this idea will surprise our customers who are looking for a more eccentric pair.”

Because of material and labor costs to produce Weedos, 8000Kicks will release only 100 for purchase.

The shoes will be available at the 8000Kicks and Royal Queen Seeds website on a first-come, first-served basis.

8000Kicks has not announced a launch date for Weedos yet, but interested customers can pre-register to secure a pair.
