A new dispensary focused on cannabis and art has opened its doors in Central California.

Last month, The Artist Tree announced the opening of its fifth location in Fresno.

The Artist Tree beat out nearly 100 other applicants to obtain their retail cannabis license.

Cannabis Meets Art

The company says its brand focuses on a natural synergy between cannabis and art, integrating a high-end shopping experience with a regular rotation of locally-produced art.

For the new shop, The Artist Tree says it took a former furniture store and reimagined it as a retail space that also serves as an art gallery and educational space.

The dispensary’s features include free-standing art pieces, industrial detailing, and museum-style inlaid glass displays.

The Artist Tree’s grand opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Fresno Chamber of Commerce and local food vendors Kona Ice and Popolo’s Pizza.

According to The Artist Tree, more than 1,000 guests attended the grand opening.

“As the first cannabis retailer to open in Fresno,” says The Artist Tree Co-Founder Lauren Fontein. “The Artist Tree is thrilled at the opportunity to set a new higher standard for cannabis through an innovative storefront that will truly reflect the Fresno community by highlighting local artists and serving as a safe community gathering space,”

The Artist Tree says its new location is partly owned and operated by Fresno locals who have passions for cannabis and the city.

Supporting Local Artists

Following The Artist Tree’s opening in July, the shop has become a monthly ArtHop stop on every third Thursday.

Proceeds from artwork sales go to the artists who created them.

The Artist Tree features local artwork.

“Shopping with us is an immersive experience unlike anything in the world,” says Fontein. “The space will enhance your perception of the arts and change how you experience cannabis. Art of all kinds and the best cannabis product available are integrated with interactive educational hubs throughout the venue.”

Also inside The Artist Tree is Cultivation Learning Center, a 10 x 15 glass room where guides highlight the craft cannabis cultivation process using clones.

The Artist Tree says it will also sell assorted clones for customers to purchase.

In addition to clones, The Artist Tree says it carries more than 800 items, including vape cartridges, topicals, edibles, CBD products, concentrates, and pre-rolls.

The Artist Tree, located at 7835 North Palm Avenue (Suite 103), is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 9:50 p.m.
