After a several-year hiatus, the Nug Life Radio show is returning to bring some knowledge, information, and fun back to the cannabis-consuming and curious public.

The Nug Life Radio is a cannabis education and entertainment show that started during the Prop 215 era in California.

It Started with The Loophole

The show began as The Loophole in 2010 in Clairemont Mesa, California.

Comedian and show creator “Medicinal” Mike Boris would bring comedians in and get them high.

Comedians Erik Martin, Matt Cook, and Tommy Lucero were among the inaugural cast members.

In 2011, Boris began broadcasting the Nug Life Radio Show with comedian Jon Allen from his home.

Boris began the show to provide cannabis education, activism, and entertainment to the public in a single package.

In 2012, Boris also started Medicinal Mike’s Medi World on YouTube.

After meeting radio and film personality Scorch in 2014, Boris brought the Nug Life Radio Show to the now-defunct Envisage Studios in San Marcos.

Mike co-hosted the show with Scorch and Dr. Wayne Kelley.

During Nug Life’s first year at Envisage, Benjie Cooper joined the show to read the news during the show’s third quarter slot.

Scorch had left the show to devote his efforts to the show he hosted with Russ Mottla and Mike Esparza.

The trio broadcast their Rock All Night show in the neighboring Studio A.

While at Envisage Studios, the Show was broadcast on 93.1 KNSJ in San Diego and syndicated to a couple of stations in other states.

An Unexpected Hiatus

In 2016, the Nug Life Radio show went on an indefinite hiatus after losing the Envisage studio.

The studio closed after being the subject of a multi-million-dollar embezzlement scheme that shuttered the company and its subsidiaries.

The hiatus began after recording a few shows at the Candid Chronicle’s former San Diego office in the fall of 2016.

Boris and Cooper also co-hosted the Speakeasy 710 Show with others briefly at Weedmaps Studios in Irvine in 2016.

In 2021, Boris began recording a run of We’d Like to Talk episodes at Infused Digital in Cypress.

The show’s guests included Tone Loc, Bridget Powers, Chucky Chuck, and Michael Gabriel.

The Show Returns

Today marks the end of the Nug Life Radio Show’s hiatus as Boris and Cooper bring the show for an online audience.

In 2022, the world of cannabis has changed significantly from when Nug Life went off the air in 2016.

But with the changes, and as the show returns, Boris says he wants people to remember where things started.

“I want to remind the world that everybody has a voice, and you’re only having a good time because forgotten people sacrificed huge portions of their lives to educate the world on the healing benefits of a plant that is very much being taken advantage of now,” says Boris. “Don’t forget your roots, is what I’m trying to say.”

Today’s guest lineup includes competitive cannabis award winners Adam and Evelyn Zead and Candid Chronicle founder Chris Williams.

The show will also feature Benjie Cooper’s news segment and a 4:20 giveaway.
